the same problem exists on freebsd and other *bsd style unixes. I have fixed the problem on these platforms. I guess it works on Solaris too, but I can't test it myself.

thanks for the pointers about intl. I have tried skipping the intl bit, however I still error out. As you don't have access to these systems and I don't have the time to sort it, i'll give up for now, Here are my errors, just for fun...

options.c: In function `fill_dialog':
options.c:503: parse error before `*'
options.c:504: `hostname' undeclared (first use in this function)
options.c:504: (Each undeclared identifier is reported only once
options.c:504: for each function it appears in.)
gmake[2]: *** [options.o] Error 1
gmake[2]: Leaving directory `/var/tmp/grdesktop-0.22/src'
gmake[1]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1
gmake[1]: Leaving directory `/var/tmp/grdesktop-0.22'
gmake: *** [all-recursive-am] Error 2

well, I have no access to any sparc machine (which is running solaris 8.x/sparc). But I guess the same problem happens on other operation systems (freebsd for example) also. Thos OS's have problems with my intl/ directory, which isn't really needed for grdesktop. It's only used to include international support.

I guess something in the autoconf/automake files is wrong.

Thanks for reporting the problem.
