Having dynamic timers isn't bad in itself and you don't prevent deadlocks by having statically allocated timers... This effectively duplicates case #1902, so I'll close this.

the sys_timeout API/mechanism should be rewritten so it uses statically alloced timeouts.The current use of memp from within sys_sem_wait and the fact that memp uses semaphores for synchronizing can lead to locks or crashes. Seen by at least 2 users
