I really miss the syncronisation between kmix and tpb-softmixer (on my R32).
Now I got the tpb->kmix sync working:
1. disable software mixer
2. enable callback for volume in tpbrc
3. add this line in callback.sh
/usr/kde/3.2/bin/dcop kmix Mixer0 setMasterVolume $2

Whenever you press some tpb-volume buttons kmixs is in sync (because volume is regulated via kmix)

The other way round I didn't get it working so far. Id would be nice to read the masterVolume (dcop kmix Mixer0 masterVolume) from kmix and to adjust volume relative to this value...

Greetings
Thomas Bettler

Well, using the --mixer option changes the dsp volume, but kmix isn't notified of the changes. Would be great to add this - maybe MCOP would help here. All the nessessary function already exist there.

This is not possible with most thinkpads.

They have almost all a hardware mixer which changes the volume independent of the sound mixer of the linux. The hardware mixer could not be disabled.

Some thinkpads (R series) have no hardware mixer. There one must use the --mixer option to be able to change the volume using the software mixer. If you use this option with the other thinkpads you change the hardware mixer AND the software mixer at the same time.

It might be desireable to syncronize the volume between tpb and kmix (or other mixers)

e.g.
if you press tpbuttons, tpb sould read current volume from mixer (e.g. kmix) and not from nvram
and reverse:
the new volume sould (if possible) be submitted to kmix

I have no clue how to do this.
But this would improve tpb, as far as I see.

Thanx for all development you guys are doing.
