Please check if this bug still is in current CVS version.
You should find a tarball of current CVS in files section of
this project: http://savannah.nongnu.org/download/mldonkey/

Even if you are using Linux, won't you be using a fat(16) partition as a temp folder? Remember its 2GB limit (a friend of mine had this problem!)
spiralvoice, read the header:
"Did you build the core yourself or are you using a pre-compiled binary?
spiralvoice"
"Binaries Origin: Downloaded from third-party page"
"The source of the installation file are RPM downloaded from
http://guru.linuxbe.org/"

"Error ml_truncated32: error in ftruncate failed: Invalid Argument with 1"
OR
"Error ml_truncated32: error in ftruncate failed: Input/Output with 1"
1 is the download number.
