Hi all,

as we closed the patch #2511 we are also closed the related bug entry. As I know the discussion ends in nothing :-)
If the problem still exists feel free to add comments to the
allready closed bug entry.

Thanks
Klaus

I could have a look at bug #11929, too, if you want.

The tarball is at

http://uriah.heep.sax.de/outgoing/simulavr-0.1.2.2.tar.bz2

But what's the purpose of doing it that way? The "official"
tarball is produced by running "make distcheck" anyway, so
if you are going to do the distchecking, you'll have that
for free.

If you roll a tarball and email it to me, I'll compare it to CVS current and apply a CVS-tag to the sources and post it to the files area. (I'll do the make check and make distcheck too)

If you want further changes to simulavr, feel free to submit patches.

Well, as far as I remember, the patch has already been applied
to (old) simulavr's CVS, hasn't it? It might be useful to
eventually roll a simulavr-0.1.2.2 release out of what is
currently in CVS (no idea how much the difference to 0.1.2.1
is right now). If you want me to roll that release, and
upload the files, feel free to invite me to the project --
I'm quite used to that process from avr-libc already, so it
would be a matter of 15 minutes or so.

As for simulavrxx, last I've heard was that it was considered
``more beta'' than the old simulavr. Once it considered to
be the full replacement, I don't care whether development
on the old simulavr stops completely.

I'm afraid I don't have enough time to spend into substantial
contributions for simulavrxx though, I'm afraid.

Hi Joerg,

is there still support needed. Maybe I could fix that but
it would be very nice to receive a patch :-)

I want to concentrate the work on simulavrxx. As you know simulavr is out of maintenance since Theodore leave the project.

If you or others are still interested in using the old
simulavr with new binutils please let us know. Maybe we could fix this.

Otherwice I will close the bug entry next time.

Best regards,
Klaus

The asm test suite uses the archaic linker "emulation" avr85xx
which is no longer supplied in binutils 2.15:

for prg in test_blink test_cntr test_eeprom test_port test_stack test_toie0 test_toie0_2 test_wdr test_wdr2; do \
avr-ld -m avr85xx -o $prg ${prg}.elf || exit 1; \
done
avr-ld: unrecognised emulation mode: avr85xx

Fix: use -m avr2 instead (maybe use avr-gcc to call the
linker instead?).
