Well, I though this would have been trivial, set "LANG=en_US.UTF-8" in your environment, start xgnokii, try to look at the xgnokii help.

How it should be: the help should open in a browser.

What happens: a browser opens, trying to open /usr/share/xgnokii/help/en_US.UTF-8/index.html, which does not exist.

Suggested fix:

1) Around line 2310 in xgnokii.c, first try the LC_ALL, LC_MESSAGES and/or LANG variables as is, and try to find a suitable index.html to load. And check that it exists. If it does, open it with the browser. If not, proceed to 2).

2) If the file in 1) did not exist, try trimming any charset information from the received variable, and retry with that. So if in 1) we got "en_US.UTF-8", trim the ".UTF-8", and check if a help index.html exists in the "en_US" dir. If it does, open it with the browser. If not, proceed to 3).

3) If we get this far, just use a hardcoded default that we know should exist if xgnokii is properly installed (en_US/index.html), and load it into a browser without checking. This case is reached currently for example if LANG is set to "fi_FI" or "en" in the enviroment before starting xgnokii.

Could you please be more specific? What is the result of the bug? Any description how it is/how it should be would be useful. Does gnokii work correctly?

I have LANG set to en_US.UTF-8, and xgnokii's help does not work. Symlinking en_US.UTF-8 to en_US in /usr/share/xgnokii/help is a workaround, but a real fix would be welcome.
