Great! Thanks. I see no reason why they should not be able to make this simple change.

OK. ... Great Joy ... Everything is working like it should. Just let me say, I'm not mad at anybody. The only thing that I'm disappointed about, really, is having to recompile my kernel everytime a new one comes around. I will be submitting a wish list at Fedora regarding compiling common capabilities as a module. I am somewhat disappointed with the difficulties I have encountered working with the new security model. In particular, why there isn't a built in plugin infrastructure for commoncap like there is for iptables. Maybe this is something that could be suggested to the kernel developers.

Hi,
This occurs because you have not loaded the "capability" module. This module was previously built-in to your kernel. Now it is separate. You should load modules in this order:
commoncap
dazuko
capability
Then you will have no problems. You should not be angry with Dazuko. This is not a Dazuko problem. If you want to be disappointed with something, be disappointed with Fedora's default kernel and Linux 2.6's security implementation.

Partial joy. I managed to compile and install as per your instructions. However, some services do not function. It could be as a result of the changes made as of kernel 2.6.8. In any case an example of services not working is named.
/etc/rc.d/init.d/named start
produces
rndc: connect failed: connection refused
This kinda disuades me from using dazuko as I need this service to run.

Hi,
If you look in /var/log/messages you will see what the error is. An exact description of how to install Dazuko on Fedora Core 2 is here:
http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/dazuko-devel/2004-10/msg00022.html
I know it works because I installed it myself.

Nope, dazuko 2.0.4 pre 5 doesn't work at all in fedora core with linux-2.6.8-1.521custom. I get the following
/sbin/insmod ./dazuko.ko
insmod: error inserting './dazuko.ko': -1 Unknown symbol in module
Sorry about that

Hi,
The latest pre-release (2.0.4-pre5) works great with Fedora Core 2. Please give it a try.

Hi,
Actually you should be using "dazuko.ko" instead of "dazuko.mod.o", but I am glad it is working for you.

John-insmod dazuko.mod.o works. I've sort of lost track but it's now alive and well. Thanks!

Hi,
Please look in /var/log/messages. I believe that you are having the problem described at the end of FAQ#8:
http://www.dazuko.org/faq.shtml#8
The warning message shouldn't be causing the problem.

Hi,
I have been unsuccessful in repeating this. Could you try the new 2.0.3 official version? It would also help me if you posted the complete output of running "./configure"
Thanks.

Hi,
This is just a warning. Dazuko should still work correctly. Does it?
