Sorry, this is an SDL/Alsa bug, I can't do anything. If this happens, please run the game with -m to disable sound/music or try to search on SDL mailing lists for a similar problem and its possible solutions.

Could you please launch glob in gdb, like this:
gdb glob2
Then, run it by pressing the r key
When it crashes, please type bt and copy the result in this bug. Thanks,

Steph

are you running from kde? If so the KDE sound daemon (arts) hogs the sound device and causes this crash. I happens with many games. Run the game using:
artsdsp glob2

that should sort it

I have the same problem. But if I start globulation with the mute flag enabled /glob2 -m/ globulation starts without any problem. Zo I think this has somethintg to do with a null pointer in the sound code.

Hi, I wanted to give glob2 (alpha6) a try on my debian testing on apple ibook (PowerPC G3) but it cashes at launch time:
"""
olivier@ibook:~$ glob2
ALSA lib pcm_hw.c:1155:(snd_pcm_hw_open) open /dev/snd/pcmC0D0p failed: Device or resource busy
Toolkit : Initialized : Graphic Context created
Toolkit : Screen set to 640x480 at 32 bpp in window
Fatal signal: Segmentation Fault (SDL Parachute Deployed)
olivier@ibook:~$
"""
I can only see an empty black 640x480 window opening and closing at segmentation fault.

Everything went fine at compile time (./compile && make && make install). I have some problems with my alsa installation by it might not be related to this segmentation fault.

I enclose a strace output.

Please feel free to contact me at [olivier . grisel at ensta . org].
