BlackBerry (in my case a Bold 9000) can not be used with gnome-phone-manager. The g-p-m project asked me to create a feature request to have it supported in gnokii.

Thank you for reporting this issue, unfortunately I doubt that the library mentioned in that Bugzilla page provides the notification of SMS arrival which gnome-phone-manager needs; I think the library is called barry:

from that page it seems that you can only access stored SMS, among other things.
If barry provided an emulation layer for AT commands, and AT+CNMI=2 or AT+CNMI=3 were supported, then it could work with model=AT. Since none of the gnokii developers owns a Blackberry, can you check that?
