The emulation code is apparently not that flexible. It is hoever possible to "invert" the display colors with black on white. This change was made available by Richard some time ago in the repository. I don't remember if it made it into the last release.

The terminal window has white text on a black background. I know some people prefer this, but it is hard to read on my screen so I'd like a user option (e.g. via Preferences) to change it to black on white or light grey. Is this possible - I don't see such an option?
