The administrator's e-mail address is -email is unavailable- (please see the attachments).

The problem: messages sent from the administrator's e-mail address to my lists do not arrive to the administrator's e-mail (all filters are turned off).

Could you please show me a fragment of the mail log with the records that the messages were sent to alexei.malinin@mail.ru. With this log I will be able to write a problem report to my e-mail provider mail.ru.

What address do you consider the administrator address?

I look and and see 6 messages posted from you to imbr-misc and 1 from you to imbr-announce.  One of the 6 messages to imbr-misc used a different address than the others.

All of the 5 out of the 6 total messages were sent from your administrator address.  All of those were received by the mailing list and then re-sent out to the subscribers (yourself included) and also saved in the mailing list archive.  You can view the messages in the mailing list archive.

http://lists.nongnu.org/archive/html/imbr-misc/

The messages appeared in the archive.  They were received.  They were re-sent to the subscribers.  You are subscribed.  The messages will be sent to you.

Additionally the listhelper anti-spam is NOT filtering messages from either unmoderated subscribers such as yourself nor from whitelisted addresses.  Since your address is subscribed and unmoderated then Mailman will receive and re-send messages WITHOUT anti-spam filtering.  The listhelper anti-spam is not involved in the process in that case.

OK. I turned off all filters. The administrator's e-mail address is subscribed to my lists. So the administrator must receive messages sent from the administrator's e-mail address to the lists, does not he?

sure, just like any other address subscribed to the list. maybe it was caught by some spam filter.

The purpose of the "administrator email" (and "moderator email") fields is to receive automated administrative messages from mailman. If you want to receive messages sent to the list, you need to subscribe the address to the list.

This is a feature, because many (many) lists have an administrator who is not actually involved with the project, just with mail(man). We would not want to receive every msg sent to the list. --best, karl.

Hello.

sysadmin AT gnu.org reenabled -email is unavailable- and now it works.

The last problem: if I post messages to my lists from the administrator's e-mail address the messages arrive to the lists but do not arrive to the administrator's e-mail address (although I have turned off "nodupes" and "not metoo"). It is confusing. Is this behaviour a bug or a feature?

> host eggs.gnu.org [209.51.188.92]: 550 Previous (cached) callout verification failure

That is from eggs the incoming relay machine for all inbound mail to .gnu.org and .fsf.org.  Only the FSF admins have access to that system.  This will need one of them to look at the problem and determine why your mail is getting this error.

Reference: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Callback_verification

Me thinks that maybe your source system is failing the callback verification that is apparently (due to that error message) happening on eggs.

I suggest opening a ticket with FSF sysadmin by sending an email message with details of this problem to sysadmin AT gnu.org as this is outside the access of the Savannah team.

Thank you for the replies.

I tested e-mailing several times and found out the following problems.

1. If I post a message to -email is unavailable- from the administrator e-mail address the message arrives to the list but does not arrive to the administrator e-mail address (although I have turned off "nodupes" and "not metoo"). It is confusing.

2. I recreated (after deleting) imbr-announce@nongnu.org. It has been surprisingly restored with the old settings and old password! It is a bug.

3. Now I cannot post messages to imbr-announce@nongnu.org:

"This message was created automatically by mail delivery software.

A message that you sent could not be delivered to one or more of its
recipients. This is a permanent error. The following address(es) failed:

Alex - one test message to imbr-misc is in the queue now at https://lists.nongnu.org/mailman/admindb/imbr-misc. I suggest discarding it or approving it, as you like.

There is nothing special about the administrator address as far as posting goes.

If you post real messages, not test messages, I strongly suspect they will not be discarded. I saw at least one other test message come through, and thought you had discarded it. I don't know.

Only remove listhelper if you want to delete all the inevitable spam yourself, by hand.

best,
karl

Try removing listhelper@ from the list moderator address; it may automatically remove messages depending on their text (especially when written in a language other than English),

Hello.

I created two lists: -email is unavailable- and -email is unavailable- and subscribed the administrator to these lists. Also I subscribed one user to these lists.

Then I tried to check functioning correctness of imbr-announce@nongnu.org:
1) I found posts from the user at the pending moderator requests web page. It was OK.
2) I tried several times to post a message from the administrator e-mail address to the list but I was not able to find the posts neither at the pending moderator requests web page nor in the list. It was FAILURE.
3) I deleted the list and recreated it, after that the user was not able to post messages to the list because of mail delivery failure, so I deleted the list again. It was FAILURE.

Then I tried to check functioning correctness of imbr-misc@nongnu.org:
1) I found posts from the user at the pending moderator requests web page. It was OK.
2) I tried several times to post a message from the administrator e-mail address to the list but I was not able to find the posts neither at the pending moderator requests web page nor in the list. It was FAILURE.

So it seems that I have missed to do something essential to have the ability to post messages to the lists from the administrator e-mail address.

Please explain what I should do to post messages to lists from the administrator e-mail address.
