Well, that is not really an argument against my proposal, is it? Some other tools still creating files like davfs does doesn't justify continuing doing so with no other reason given.
Hello Thanks a log for this really great tool! By the way, davfs is not the only program that create dotfiles in my home directory, many many others do. I think this ticket should be close :-)
Well, I don't really like having more $HOME folder cluttered with a lot of hidden files. Also the standard is really established. Pretty much every application I use uses it besides something like ssh where `.ssh` is also used by other applications.
I can't see what is "kinda unpleasant" with the traditional Linux dotfiles. And davfs2 is by far not the only program that uses these dotfiles. I will wait until a new standard really is established before I adopt any new directory layout that is proposed by someone. Werner
davfs is one of the only programs that create dotfiles in my home directory, which is kinda unpleasant. Please consider being able to set that directory somewhere else or just use $XDG_CONFIG_HOME, $XDG_CACHE_HOME and $XDG_DATA_HOME and the respective defaults
