Yeah, I think AC_PROG_BISON would be 2.71 material at this point.  Considering the course of the other bug, an AC_PROG_FLEX might be a good idea too (but again, 2.71 material).

Thanks for reporting this. I started the ball rolling on it by reverting the mistaken patch in question. This should be enough for a 2.70 release, though it'd be good to add an AC_PROG_BISON too.

As explained in https://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/bug-autoconf/2018-12/msg00001.html, the AC_PROG_YACC macro, which did support Yacc well in 2.69, now is buggy.

The change https://git.savannah.gnu.org/gitweb/?p=autoconf.git;a=commitdiff;h=42761668c0300afa7f8bf5ba736458a818cd5d15 should better be reverted and instead a new macro AC_PROG_BISON should be added, for proper Bison support.

Akim Demaille, the original author of said change, approved the plan in https://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/bug-autoconf/2018-12/msg00002.html .
