That Kismet forum message is from 2005.  GPSD has not had that particular bug in 10 years.

The "Permission Denied" message means you don't have write permission in the directory where you're trying to build.  This is not a bug in either gpsd nor scons.

You should probably get a copy of the 3.12 version I shipped yesterday; it has a power-usage optimization I added for the Pi and Android devices.

It is possiblle that your installed 3.6.4 version is working fine but is confused by bad data from your GPS (there are some very dodgy GPSes out there).  Before you put morte effort into this, capture some output from the GPS and attach it here here I can see it.

Hi, I've been trying to get kismet working with gps data on my raspberry pi, and I do get data, but the avg-lat and avg-long values are usually way off.  I did some searching, and found this: https://www.kismetwireless.net/Forum/General/Messages/1131712672.497031

which basically states that: gpsd reports 90.00000,180.000000 when the gps haven't got a valid fix.

So, after some more searching, I found that some people had fixed this issue by installing an older version of gpsd, but these were forum posts in the distant past, and I looked around, and found that gpsd 3.11 was the latest (but 3.6.4 is the one that installs with apt-get).  So, I tried installing 3.11 from source, and am beginning to think that it's not compatible for the Rpi (it keeps failing with permission denied from scons: for example: Permission Denied '.scons-option-cache' File "/Sconstruct", line 235,)

I'm beginning to believe that 3.11 isn't yet supported on the Pi.

So my questions:

1. Is there a way to stop gpsd from reporting erroneous Lat/Long when there is no gps fix?

2. Is there a version that works on the Rpi that doesn't do this?

3.  If either question above is yes, if someone could point me toward the proper documentation, I'd appreciate it greatly.

Thank you!

Kevin
