Another report from an anonymous user that didn't end up on the mailing list:
https://savannah.gnu.org/bugs/index.php?62669

https://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/octave-bug-tracker/2022-06/index.html

I don't see a clear pattern yet. The missing notifications seem to be from anonymous users. But not all notifications from anonymous users are missing...

Notifications from anonymous users with different localization reached the mailing list recently. E.g.:
https://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/octave-bug-tracker/2022-06/msg00057.html (Spanish: anónimo)
https://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/octave-bug-tracker/2022-06/msg00059.html (English: anonymous)

I don't know what the issue with the notification from the older report was. But it is probably ok to close this again.
I'll try to keep an eye on whether there will be missing notifications in the future and whether there is a pattern to them...

Again thank you for keeping Savannah up and running.

IIRC, the sender field for anonymous users is localized. E.g., if the users add a comment while savannah's web interface is set to French, the sender appears as "anonyme" (instead of "anonymous") in the email header. Could it be related to that?

(Anyway, should the notification mail "leak" the localization of anonymous users? But that's off-topic to here.)

> Does Savannah no longer send notifications for Anonymous?

I've just submitted an anonymous bug report and received a notification.

> Or are they rejected by the mailing list for some reason?

I'm not sure; the moderation area of that mailing list holds a lot of emails, but I see no message from bug #62526 there.

This seems to be mostly working now. However, it looks like no notifications are sent for updates from "Anonymous" users.

E.g., the original post from here [1] never made it to the mailing list (archive [2]).

Does Savannah no longer send notifications for Anonymous? Or are they rejected by the mailing list for some reason?

Thank you very much for the update and for looking into this.

Just to give one data point: I received a bunch of notifications from savannah a few minutes ago. Those included notifications for updates during last Saturday and Sunday (CEST).
There were issues in the past with my mail provider (GMX) rejecting messages from savannah in the past. So, it might be one of the "picky" ones. That might not necessarily mean that it is working for everyone. But it works for me again. 🙂👍

Thank you again for the fast turn-around in fixing this.

The email system on frontend2 the new web UI server has been configured for email.  They will have the correct from address and supported by DKIM and such now.  Hopefully this will resolve the issue for messages generated from now forward.

The upgrade on Friday from frontend1 to frontend2 brought the web UI up to the next level of Trisquel OS release.  That's great!  It was definitely needed!

However the mail subsystem was not fully configured.  It isn't address mapping (masquerading), and it doesn't have DKIM signatures configured.  Those two things means that mail delivery is dependent upon the recipient's email service provider.  Some will accept the mail and some will not.

Test to check whether notifications are working.

When adding comments to a bug report on savannah, I no longer receive any email notification. That used to work a few days ago.

E.g.: https://savannah.gnu.org/bugs/?62470 where I didn't receive a notification for comment #1 or #2.

Other users report the same: https://octave.discourse.group/t/no-notifications-from-savannah/273/11

Additionally, users reported that they couldn't register on savannah because they didn't receive the confirmation message:
https://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/help-octave/2022-05/msg00006.html
