Hello, and sorry for the delay.

You list PyQt as a dependency. Unfortunately, it's GPLv3-only, this means that your package will be effectively GPLv3-only (the users won't actually have the option to use later versions of the GPL).

Sorry, I forgot to add the new author to the _init_.py, it has been added in the new file I've attached.

Sorry and thank you.

Hello:

Thank you a lot for the feedback, I think I've corrected what you mentioned: now, all header files refer to GPLv3, I've added such header to all the files I've left (Or, at least, is what I think), and there is another developer that will help on the project.

Now, the header also mentions 3 or later:"either version 3 of the License, or (at your option) any later version."

I've added the new file in "Attached Files" below, I hope it is correct.

Thank you again, mister Gordon.

Hello,

Thank you for submitting a new project to host on GNU Savannah.

To comply with the hosting requirements, there are few issues that need to be addressed
(see http://savannah.gnu.org/register/requirements.php and
http://savannah.gnu.org/maintenance/HowToGetYourProjectApprovedQuickly )

Please add copyright and license information to all files (e.g. ./setup.py).

The license in most files mentions GPLv2, yet the COPYING file is GPLv3, and the _license__variable in ./qtcam/__init_.py says "GPL3" as well.

Please choose a consistent license version (2 or 3), and ensure it says "or later version" everywhere ( see http://savannah.gnu.org/maintenance/GnuGplTwoOrLater/ ).

When the files are amended, please upload a new archive to the savannah
website (the "Attach Files" at the bottom of the page),
and the project registration could proceed.

regards,
 - assaf

Registration Details

  • Name: QtCAM
  • System Name:  qtcam
  • Type: non-GNU software and documentation
  • License: GNU General Public License v2 or later

Description:

This application is able to assist in the analysis and design of a cam-follower mechanism (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cam).

The idea is to make a free replacement of an application called DYNACAM  (http://www.designofmachinery.com/Cam/) made by Robert Norton and I have the help of an important cam expert who agrees with this vision.

It is written entirely in Python 3.

I haven't found any other application that does the same and has a free license so this perhaps this is one of the few.

Other Software Required:

matplotlib - http://matplotlib.org/users/license.html - http://matplotlib.org/

NumPy - BSD-new license - http://www.numpy.org/

svgwrite - MIT - https://pypi.python.org/pypi/svgwrite

PyQt - GNU GPL - https://riverbankcomputing.com/software/pyqt/intro

Other Comments:

There are no media files in the project yet (drawings, icons...) but they will be added in the future and I will make sure it is under a free software respectful icense
