I have used 2.6.7, 2.6.9, and now 2.6.10 with uisp for some time now with no problem.  I did find that if the parallel port driver (the actual driver, not the user space driver) was compiled as a module it would not actually find my parallel port when the module was loaded.  I had to have parallel port support compiled into the kernel for it to find the port.

UISP works fine with kernel 2.6.X

Maybe you forgot to load the parport module ?

The uisp (2004 version) does not seem to work with my 2.6.9 kernel from Fedora Core 3). It gives an error message when trying to claim the parport device, in ioctl(fd, PPCLAIM).

On another computer running the kernel 2.4.20 there is no problems with uisp (2002, the latest 2004 version does not compile).

In both cases, the necessary modules loaded, lp module unloaded etc.

Are there any ongoing efforts to upgrade uisp to the 2.6.x series of the linux kernel?

Thanks
