Connection Issues -- Go to the CVS repository for the latest changes

Item posted by Michael Pagan <pegzmasta> on Sat 04 Feb 2017 04:09:06 AM UTC.

Hello, everyone!

So... I'm having some connection issues with GNU Savannah.  In essence, I am no longer able to send tarball releases to the official Download Area for Genshiken.

What does that mean for you?

Basically, it means that if you want the latest version of Genshiken, then you'll need to do an anonymous checkout via cvs.  The latest tarball is one month behind from the current source code.  27 commits have been made since then, so the current tarball may fail in certain situations, and at worst: May not even work at all, hence you'll need a fresh cvs checkout, instead.  Here is the command to grab the latest sources:

cvs -z3 -d:pserver:anonymous@cvs.savannah.nongnu.org:/sources/genshiken co genshiken

The current release of Genshiken is 0.5.2; however, I have yet to announce it due to the connection issue that I want to have resolved first; plus, there are some bugs in Genshiken that I would like to be fixed, as well.  These bugs are annotated in the TODO file, and any help to fix them would be greatly appreciated.

As soon as the connection issue is resolved (support request pending), I will officially announce version 0.5.2, and in the coming weeks there will also be a bugfix release, too.  Until that time, if you are using Genshiken please ignore the Download Area for now and checkout the sources from cvs for the latest changes.

As always, you may send any questions or feedback to the mailing list: genshiken-users@nongnu.org

Happy Hacking!
