I'm just closing this patch.  It was applied back in March 2006, commit dc0b0be755b41f3c195913631fedf023ad69192e.

this patch allows using character class ranges in pick expressions, i.e. "pick -subj 'foo[a-f]'" instead of "pick -subj 'foo[abcdef]'".

(since this feature can quickly cause the compiled expression to grow past its current 256 byte limit, i've also changed that to 1024.)
