Nodal discontinuous Galerkin for space charge - Summary
This group is not part of the GNU Project.
The space charge dynamics in insulation materials, such as polyethylene, under high DC voltage plays an important role for the dielectric degradation and breakdown. The numerical simulation has become a powerful tool to explain the space charge profile obtained by pulsed electro-acoustic (PEA) apparatus and to unveil the underlying physical mechanisms. The mathematical form of the space charge transport is described by a coupled system of single or multiphase convection-reaction equations, which dependes on the types of carriers existing in the dielectrics, and the Poisson's equation. The former characterizes the carrier conservation law, while the latter describes the quasi static electric field.
By using the discontinuous Galerkin method, space charge concentration and electric field distribution in low density polyethylene (LDPE) can be simulated with a higher accuracy and efficiency.

Based on the simple object oriented programming (OOP) functionality support in Fortran 90, an initial design and implementation of the SPCNDG framework has been established.
The basic idea is to encapsulate related data, such as mesh, solution variables, mathematical and physical constants, program-wide constants, user defined global variables,
