Hello.

Our licensing page (http://www.gnu.org/licenses/license-list.html) says about the MPL:
"This is a free software license which is not a strong copyleft; unlike the X11 license, it has some complex restrictions that make it incompatible with the GNU GPL. That is, a module covered by the GPL and a module covered by the MPL cannot legally be linked together. We urge you not to use the MPL for this reason.

However, MPL 1.1 has a provision (section 13) that allows a program (or parts of it) to offer a choice of another license as well. If part of a program allows the GNU GPL as an alternate choice, or any other GPL-compatible license as an alternate choice, that part of the program has a GPL-compatible license."

So the problem is the choice in section 13. If the author of JEDI-SDL does not offer this choice of another license, it's GPL incompatible.

We close this submission.
If you ever get independent of GPL incompatible parts, feel free to re-register your project.

Regards,

Sebastian Wieseler <kickino>

ok... got response... JEDI-SDL is only availible under MPL, and beacuse it's absolutely needed for ozone, ozone is not (and will never be) savannah conform, so you may reject it. sorry for wasting your time!

Hello,

I wrote a mail to the JEDI-SDL coordinator (Dominique Louis) and to the one who wrote the dglOpenGL.pas (Sascha Willems), declaring this problem, and requesting a GPL version.

btw. I do no longer use OpenGL12.pas, now I use dglOpenGL.pas

If this goes wrong, I don't know what to do, as OZONE is nothing without SDL :(

Hello.

We've got another dependence problem.

http://homepages.borland.com/jedi/cms/modules/jdocs/index.php?pagenum=1
says:

"The scheme we chose for all Project JEDI code was the Mozilla Public Licence  ("MPL") version 1.1."

and JEDI-SDL/SDL/Pas/OpenGL12.pas was also published under the MPL version 1.1.

The MPL "is a free software license which is not a strong copyleft; unlike the X11 license, it has some complex restrictions that make it incompatible with the GNU GPL. That is, a module covered by the GPL and a module covered by the MPL cannot legally be linked together. We urge you not to use the MPL for this reason."

hi,

yesterday, i changed the project, now it compiles using freepascal... now i use the OpenGL1.5 header from DelphiGL, which works well using freepascal, and the JEDI-SDL 1.0. i've not changed the ODE importing, as ODE seems to be free software..
now those who want to may use freepascal, but i'm not forced to use it also, right?
and do i have to build releases using freepascal or must only the source be 100% freepascal compatible?

greets,
/ozone

Hi,
I'm evaluating the project you submitted for approval in Savannah.

Your project requires proprietary software (Delphi, Kyrix) and cannot be hosted on Savannah while these dependece exist.

Savannah is willing to provide resources and time to developers writing Free Software that can be used without the need to ask permission from proprietary software vendor(s).

The problem with Kyrix is, that the runtime libraries are released under a GPL compatible license but the compiler, and the IDE, are proprietary.

Do you would like to change your whole project to run without any need to use proprietary software?

######### REGISTRATION DETAILS #########

Full Name:
----------
  OZONE

System Group Name:
-----------------
  ozone

Type:
-----
  non-GNU software & documentation

License:
--------
GNU General Public License V2 or later

Description:
------------
ozone is a modular 3d reimplementation of oxyd. this means you control a marble, and you have to find matching pairs or certain stones, the "oxyd" stones. There is a versus mode, too, where you should break your opponent's marble by pushing him off into the abyss, in a death stone or something similar. Versus is played split-screen an the moment, but LAN play will probably be possible somedays. the latest stable version is 0.15, the source code can be downloaded at http://ozone.cjb.cc/ozone-015-src.zip, the latest beta can be found at http://ozone.cjb.cc/ozone-016-b2.rar (archive contains sources and binaries). ozone works on win32- and linux-based systems yet, but it's probably easy to build it on osx.

Other Software Required:
------------------------
ozone is written in delphi/object-pascal and may be compiled using the delphi/kylix compiler or using freepascal. it depends on th following libraries/headers:
- jedi-sdl (www.delphi-jedi.org) and SDL/SDL_Image/SDL_Mixer (www.libsdl.org)
- opengl12.pas (from jedi-sdl) and OpenGL(www.opengl.org)
- delphiode (www.cambrianlabs.com/Mattias/DelphiODE/) and the ODE (OpenDynamicsEngine, www.ode.org)

Other Comments:
---------------
i don't know if this it the right place to say this but...

the name ozone is taken because it's 3d oxyd, and oxyd is 2d. so, oxyd->o2 (two dimensional)
ozone->o3 (three dimensional)
