- iMBR is compatible with MBRs supplied by operating systems
- iMBR can boot any operating system from any of four primary disk partitions
- iMBR does not depend on an operating system
- iMBR preserves Windows NT disk signature
- iMBR can be configured (with iMBR_editor) so as it will present the user with a prompt, allowing a choice (with an optional timeout) between disk partitions to boot from
- iMBR_editor can run on OpenBSD, NetBSD, GNU/Linux, Windows operating systems
