Er, not the whole license, just the "all rights reserved" :).

Removal is purely optional (for clarity, as Mario says), in any case.  These days, an explicit "All rights reserved" has no legal significance.

Best,
k

Hi.

I noticed a "All rights reserved" notice is included between the
Copyright notice and the GNU GPL notice.  This is unnecessary and may
be misleading.  Would you mind to remove the aforesaid license?.

Regards and thanks both you.

Hi Jaakko,

I am evaluating your submission on behalf of Savannah. There is just one minor issue with the package: the README file should state the author and license of each file that cannot carry the copyright header (such as the example datasets). It is however not a showstopper since they are so carefully documented otherwise, so we can safely assume that they are under the GPLv3 or not copyrightable, but still it would be good to be on the safe side.

I don't see a problem with the license for my_getopts.

Anyway, I am approving your submission and letting you deal with this little detail in the version control system of your choice inside Savannah. Good luck and have fun!

I've approved your project--welcome on board! :-)

You'll receive a mail notification with further instructions shortly.

Registration Details

  • Name: BernoulliMix
  • System Name:  bernoullimix
  • Type: non-GNU software & documentation
  • License: GNU General Public License v2 or later (BernoulliMix documentation is governed by the GNU Free Documentation License 2.1.)

Description:

BernoulliMix program package provides tools to work with finite mixture models of multivariate Bernoulli distributions, also known as Bernoulli mixtures.

The program package can be used for probabilistic modeling of 0-1 data. The target audience includes researchers, teachers, and students in machine learning and data mining.

The documentation written in Texinfo provides both technical details on how to use the programs and the command-line options, and exercise for classroom and assignment use in courses in data mining and machine learning. There are example 0-1 datasets which can be used for trying out BernoulliMix. The implementation has been written in C programming language.

There are so far about 900 downloads of BernoulliMix, it has been used in classroom use for three years, with 100+ students using it and providing feedback.

Other Comments:

The home page of the project is: http://www.cis.hut.fi/jhollmen/BernoulliMix/

The distribution of the software is done through a cgi script which chooses the
newest version of the software in a directory. No version control has been used, which is accessible to users. The main motivation to use Savannah is to enable other users to contribute and develop the package further and to provide an accessible, public place for the documentation and the programs.
