Both the non-destructive and destructive revert options seem too complicated. The first option offered should be some way to just obtain an older copy of the tree (or individual files), and commit them with a comment that the earlier commit was bogus.

The history --add option needs to be explained more clearly, especially if it is offered as the primary way to revert a committed change.
