AFAIK, Gnokii works with UTF-8 by default (Norwegian characters work for me). Try either of these:
- Change charset to UTF-8 and retry the command.
- Redirect the output to a file (gnokii [...] > test.txt) and run `iconv -f UTF-8 test.txt -o test-new-charset.txt` to convert to the current character set.
- Redirect the output to a file (gnokii [...] > test.txt) and open in jEdit. Set the encoding to UTF-8 in the buffer options, and see if the chars show up correctly.

When viewing (x)gnokii phone book entries with norwegian
characters, these contain question marks instead of the three
norwegian letters æ, ø and å, as well as their capitalizations.

I am not sure whether this is a problem with (x)gnokii or my own
terminal settings. However, the problem is the same with or
without X, and I have no problems with norwegian characters in
other programs, so I assume it might be the former.

My environment is as follows:
Nokia 6150

gnokii-0.6.7 (using FreeBSD port gnokii-0.6.7,1)
FreeBSD 4.11-RELEASE-p3
KDE 3.3.2
