Copy as in take the initial value (including range) from the port the control_input is connected to.

In the process of buidling a patch, the user might tweak most control values directly on the nodes, to only later, when things settle, add control_inputs to control everything important from the patch's controls window. That leads to manualy copying the values, or adjusting everything again.

Recently I added control_inputs for some tube amp plugin, with some odd ranges like -5 to 5 or something, that i needed to enter manualy to allow sensible control ...

Define "copy"

There should be an easy way to copy value and range of a port the control_input is connected with, to lessen the work required to equip a patch with said nodes to make for a nice Controls window.

For the common 1:1 mappings a Learn/Copy button would do. Otherwise such a button could be just disabled, or a menu would have to be offered.
