If you type something like 'SELECT * FROM foo; ' the query time will not be displayed. This is because the action is actually ' ', which gets caught by the default case in output.c, but the query time is only displayed if the action is 'g' or 'G'.

There are two considerations here:

It is unintuitive that the above string should use ' ' as an action. A space should be interpreted as the default action, but it would be nice to generalise this (maybe any unrecognised action should be interpreted as the default action, so we don't need the default case in output.c - implementing #31198 would make this easy).

It seems a little weird to only display query time for 'g' and 'G'. If the query wasn't a select we don't care what the action was. Perhaps the query time should always be displayed, but it should always go to the screen, bypassing any redirects (but what about pagers? worth noting that mysql sends neither the row count nor the query time to the pager).
