Please find attached a sample Tex file. compile with command
latex test.tex

I have looked into the problem further:

If I automatically start folding mode when the file is loaded

emacs +5 test.tex

will NOT work.

But if I remove autoload then

emacs +5 test.tex

does work.

So the folding-search-in function may not be the problem

Thanks Yogi

Thank you for the report,

Could you attach an example *.tex file for testing the problem as I don't use TeX.

I am using a reverse search on some latex code.
Folding mode is loaded automatically loaded via the following code in my .emacs file:

(if (load "folding" 'nomessage 'noerror)

Now if I want to load a latex file at say line 100 in the command line I would type

emacs +100 filename.tex

The problem is emacs folds entire file, and just goes to the top fold mark containing line 100.

What would be ideal is if emacs loads with all folds folded except the fold where line 100 is.

Thanks Yogi

Ps I hope this is clear. If not please ask further questions,
