There are many resolutions in market but we can store small portion in EDID DTD.

I select several recent popular resolutions from wikipedia page;

I have an issue with KVM when selecting display resolution
in guest OS. After short research, I found a post about
supporting EDID in April, 2009 by Brendan Trotter on boch-developers ML.

There is no real patch and it was not adopted.
I'm trying to reproduce code on current and made it work.

There are a series of patches.
 0001: Brendan's suggestion
 0002: format comments, add header line
 0003: format comment(cont)  wrap 128 chars.
 0004: add high and wide resolution
 0005: split low and high resolution bios
 0006: set high resolution bios as default

that is one on top of cvs repos.

There are some FAQ how support large resolution.
and it suggest  a manual setup on xorg.conf in guest OS.

My work may make it obsolete because user can select resolutions
with OS's configuration utility in recent OS.
