Here is an excerpt of the output of { man -dw init; } on openSUSE 12.2:

matched: /usr/share/man/man1/init.1.gz

ult_src: File /usr/share/man/man1/init.1.gz in mantree /usr/share/man
Starting pipeline: zcat < /usr/share/man/man1/init.1.gz [input: {0, /usr/share/man/man1/init.1.gz}, output: {-1, NULL}]
Started "zcat < /usr/share/man/man1/init.1.gz", pid 9595
ult_src: points to /usr/share/man/man1/man1/systemd.1

There is no mention in the documentation (considering the manual, the manual page and info for the man macro package) that a manual page may point to another manual page in a way specially recognised by man. Please mention that where the meaning of the command { man -w $topic; } is described.

Note: the redirection above is obviously broken, which is not your fault of course. However, it makes me feel like a fool when the command { man -w init; } complains about systemd.1 missing.
