This issue has been solved, and it was after all an issue with el-get's way of retrieving the tarball.

Details for the curious here:

This is not an issue for color-theme. It can be safely closed.

I am not sure if this qualifies as a bug, but since I could not follow the mailing list link from the color theme website I am posting this here.

color-theme-6-6.0.tar.gz from http://download.savannah.gnu.org/releases/color-theme/ is the file that is utilized by the el-get recipe.

Recently somehow it has been altered into being a doubly compressed archive file.

tar xvf color-theme-6-6.0.tar.gz does not work but returns:
tar: This does not look like a tar archive
tar: Skipping to next header
tar: Exiting with failure status due to previous errors

On the contrary if you execute
gunzip color-theme-6-6.0.tar.gz
tar xvf color-theme-6-6.0.tar

The untarring will work.

tar zxvf color-theme-6-6.0.tar.gz also does not work.

The only explanation is that someone has doubly compressed the archive.

Since this is breaking all installations (like el-get) that rely on untarring the archive by using the tar command can you try and upload a normally archived file?

Thank you
