See https://code.google.com/p/ibus/issues/detail?id=1688 :

What steps will reproduce the problem?

typing "brlabs" outputs བྲlབས་

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

typing brlabs should output བརླབས་

This bug has not always been here, but the date it appears is unknown: it is present in debian/sid but wasn't in debian/squeeze, and it seems to have appeared in Ubuntu 12.04.
