The font height was intentionally changed in 2.4.6 (I really dislike the new look btw), but the color fringing/fuzziness was the fault of the new experimental cleartype subpixel hinting feature. Disabling it only leaves the font height bad.

When updating Freetype from 2.4.4 to 2.5.3, the looks of every font regressed pretty badly. This includes Bitstream fonts, MS fonts like Arial, Apple fonts like Aquabase.

Well, the font height change was necessary for compatibility with the MS rasterizer, IIRC.
Will close the bug now.
