Corresponding source code
By default, sendmail considers a period (.) on a line by itself as the end of message. This can cause submissions to be accidentally truncated when this appears in the article text before the actual end of message.
Adding the "-oi" flags inhibits this behavior, and causes sendmail to only consider a true EOF as the end of message.
