If you wouldn´t mind sending a patch I have nothing against throwing out the whole neighbours stuff completely.

This is probably caused by the "neighbours" system which "proposes" sources for files from our known clients.  So technically this behaviour isn't a bug but it is unnecessary (the code presumably dates to a time when mldonkey had problems with searching or at least before the implmeentation of overnet/kademlia) and highly undesirable as at least one client (emule) bans if it receives too many queries for files it isn't sharing or downloading.

I have disabled this system in my working tree and do not experience the symptoms described here.

I did some debugging, strange...
ed2k://|file|random_file1|90909|0000B00000000000000000000000ABCD|/

From file_sources.ini
  {     sscore = 0
     addr = ("x.x.x.x", 4662)
     brand = false
     files = ((@7@, 5, 116422403), (@16@, 5, 116422403), (@11@, 3, 116422554), (@9@, 2, 116422118), (@87 = "0000B00000000000000000000000ABCD", 1, 116422481))
     age = 116422671
};

No other source has file @87...
In HTML interface the file has 10 sources which don´t vanish.

Directly after adding this file those 10 sources were asked but
replied with that:

# grep random_file1 mlnet.log
donkeyClient: NoSuchFileReq: from 84.58.x.xx (eMU) 'iiiiiiii' for file random_file1
donkeyClient: NoSuchFileReq: from 80.141.xxx.xxx (eMU) 'hhhhhhhhhh' for file random_file1
donkeyClient: NoSuchFileReq: from 80.146.xx.xxx (eMU) 'ggggggggggggggg' for file random_file1
donkeyClient: NoSuchFileReq: from 84.56.xx.xxx (eMU) 'fffff' for file random_file1
donkeyClient: NoSuchFileReq: from 217.162.xxx.xxx (eMU) 'eeeeeeee' for file random_file1
donkeyServers: TCP: Query Location of random_file1
donkeyServers: TCP: Query Location of random_file1
donkeyServers: TCP: Query Location of random_file1
donkeyServers: TCP: Query Location of random_file1
donkeyClient: NoSuchFileReq: from 212.202.xx.xxx (tML) 'vvvvvv' for file random_file1
donkeyClient: NoSuchFileReq: from 212.202.xx.xxx (tML) 'vvvvvv' for file random_file1
donkeyClient: NoSuchFileReq: from 193.77.xxx.xxx (tML) 'aaaa' for file random_file1
donkeyClient: NoSuchFileReq: from 193.77.xxx.xxx (tML) 'aaaa' for file random_file1
donkeyClient: NoSuchFileReq: from 80.109.xxx.xxx (tML) 'cccccc' for file random_file1
donkeyClient: NoSuchFileReq: from 80.109.xxx.xxx (tML) 'cccccc' for file random_file1
donkeyClient: NoSuchFileReq: from 84.150.xxx.xxx (eMU) 'aaaaa' for file random_file1

After that initial asking the sources are never re-asked for that file.
But in HTML view these 10 clients still appear as sources.
In Sancho GUI only one source is listed, also in file_sources.ini

So I think this happens:
- added new file
- some "ghost" sources were added to that file and asked
- they reply with NoSuchFileReq
- sources get removed so Sancho does not display them
- sources are removed from file_sources.ini
- sources are still displayed in HTML view

The bug might still be present in 2.5-30.15 gotten from http://download.berlios.de/pub/mldonkey/spiralvoice/cores/Linux/mldonkey-2.5-30.15.static.i386-Linux.tar.bz2

All I can say is that I got an entry for at least one source for a particular file where I know 100% certain that the file was not available from that client.

the bug is still in 2.5-30.5_r268

try out yourself:
ed2k://|file|random_file|1234|0000000000000000000000000000XXXX|/

some source have up- and download
but the file is still at 0%
it seems mldonkey takes the source from other files
how can I debug (would verbosity sm help)?

Please check if this bug still is in current CVS version.
You should find a tarball of current CVS in files section of
this project: http://savannah.nongnu.org/download/mldonkey/

Which interface showed you that information?

Hi,

I noticed that I have immediately sources for very rare files, and after comparing, I figured out that they were all the same. I then have added some files with random size and MD4, that will probably not exist, but I then had these source too, although I was not connected to the internet at this time !
