New location for Savane development

Item posted by Mathieu Roy <yeupou> on Thu 11 Mar 2004 02:55:17 PM UTC.

Savane (Savannah renamed to avoid confusions with Savannah savannah.gnu.org) development continues not at http://gna.org/projects/savane

Here remains a locally modified version of Savane.

Hello,

1) Savannah is was off the net for a too long time. As we have no longer any control on how Savannah is managed, we have no warantee that a downtime of one month will not happen once more and that's a price we cannot afford.

2) The persons that made modifications to the Savane version here does not seems to be interested in syncing the code (while several savannah hackers are) and, instead, asked Tim Perdue to install Gforge.
I guess the two versions will probably not be synced, since the authors of this new version does not want to propose their modifications and their modifications are dirty hacks that cannot be integrated as they stand now.

3) It just looks that this version will not be maintained. Numerous bugs that have been fixed upstream still exists in the version running here.

some questions (posted by DIG, Wed 14 Apr 2004 01:13:33 PM UTC)

Hi, Mathieu.

I have some questions about the savannah development.  It would be nice of you, if you answered to some of them:

(1) Could you tell, please, what was the reason to move the development to the new location?

(2) Will the two versions (savannah and savane) ever be sync'ed?

(3) If not (2), who will assure the maintenance, bug fixing etc for this savannah?

Thank you in advance,
