The libunwind homepage is now finally active again. It should have all the contents that used to be at the http://www.hpl.hp.com web-site, all updated and a bit better formatted.

The big news is compliance with the expanded ia64 unwind specification (which implies a change to major version 7 for the unwind shared object) and preliminary x86-64 contributed by Max Asbock.

The library has been split into separate local-only (libunwind.so) and generic (libunwind-generic.so) libraries. The former is optimized for quick loading and high performance, whereas the latter provides the most flexibility.

The big addition this time is support for the exception-handling interface originally defined for the C++ ABI. The extensions added by the GCC developers are also supported. The interface is defined by unwind.h and its key routine is _Unwind_RaiseException(). See http://www.codesourcery.com/cxx-abi/abi-eh.html for details.
