I don't know.  I contacted them in 2022 and repeated my request a few weeks ago, with surprisingly little response on this particular issue.

>  How?

https://savannah.nongnu.org/maintenance/NotSavannahAdmins/ lists three ways.

Thanks for the help.  Do I need to contact FSF sysadmin?  How?

I've removed the CVS repository; the website is FSF sysadmins' responsibility, so no ETA.

Hi,

Since .htaccess is not working and since we don't use this web site any longer, how about just deleting the entire site for duplicity.  A 404 would be preferable to incorrect or outdated information.

Please remove the CVS repository as well.

http://duplicity.nongnu.org.

...Thanks,
...Ken

hi Ineiv,

you are right the homepage link at
 https://savannah.nongnu.org/projects/duplicity/
is set properly.

likely we confused it with the one on top of this conversation.

anyway, it leaves us still wit the impossibility to update/delete
 https://duplicity.nongnu.org/
via cvs, which is supposed to hold the same content as
 http://www.nongnu.org/duplicity
if we understand correctly.

what we really wanted was a redierect, like we could realize on http://www.nongnu.org/duplicity but as things stand now we would settle for a deletion of that outdated content as well, whatever you guys are able to achieve.

thanks! ..ede/duplicity

The "Homepage" link on savannah.nongnu.org/p/duplicity does look at https://duplicity.gitlab.io/duplicity-web/ (yes, I understand that is not what was complained about); I'll file a request to FSF's sysadmins to remove duplicity pages from .nongnu.org.

hello Bob, Anyone really,

we are still having problems with the web space provided under

https://duplicity.nongnu.org/

please advise us to a way to delete it proper! it is still delivering web content despite all our best efforts to delete it or to place redirecting directives.

e.g.
https://duplicity.nongnu.org/vers7/duplicity.1.html

should not deliver content anymore.

please advise us on how to delete or disable the web space for good.

thanks ..ede/duplicity

Just to follow up...

I set the project homepage as requested.  That change does nothing.  I also put in a News item to indicate the move.  Nothing showing yet.

What's the follow on to https://duplicity.nongnu.org/ not working with the redirect?

...Thanks,
...Ken

hey Bob,

thanks for your quick reply!

wrt. 1) setting the project homepage in settings is not really an issue for now. problem are well established search engine results that need to be told the content moved :)

wrt 2) you are correct

http://www.nongnu.org/duplicity respects the .htaccess

https://duplicity.nongnu.org/ however does not. also it seems to ignore file deletions or updates to website content (html-files).

thanks!.. ede

First, let me say that you are asking something that crosses administration domains.  I know part of it.  Another person knows another part.  So you might not get an answer all at once.

I look at things I see two points to address.

1) I would set up homepage in the project configuration to point to your desired home page.  For users clicking the link from there they will go directly to your desired home page.  Project admins will see the "Select features" menu item and then on that form page a form entry for "Alternative address".  Update that field with your desired homepage URL.

2) It looks to me like your .htaccess with a redirect is functioning correctly.  Here is my test.

$ wget -O/dev/null -q -S http://www.nongnu.org/duplicity
  HTTP/1.1 301 Moved Permanently
  Date: Sun, 27 Feb 2022 05:49:03 GMT
  Server: Apache/2.4.29
  Strict-Transport-Security: max-age=63072000
  X-Frame-Options: sameorigin
  X-Content-Type-Options: nosniff
  Location: https://duplicity.gitlab.io/duplicity-web/duplicity
  Content-Length: 331
  Keep-Alive: timeout=5, max=100
  Connection: Keep-Alive
  Content-Type: text/html; charset=iso-8859-1
  HTTP/1.1 404 Not Found
  Content-Type: text/html; charset=utf-8
  Permissions-Policy: interest-cohort=()
  Vary: Origin
  X-Content-Type-Options: nosniff
  Date: Sun, 27 Feb 2022 05:49:04 GMT
  Transfer-Encoding: chunked

And I happen to be able to peek and see this .htaccess with this redirect.

Redirect 301 / https://duplicity.gitlab.io/duplicity-web/

It looks to me like it is working as designed.

http://www.nongnu.org/

The above is / and therefore the below URL

http://www.nongnu.org/duplicity

will be mapped to

https://duplicity.gitlab.io/duplicity-web/duplicity

as per the .htaccess redirect.  At least that is what I see from the .htacess which was uploaded.  It appears to be working.

And that's all I know.  I'll wait for someone else who knows more to say more.

hi,

we moved away from duplicity.nongnu.org web space and want it to redirect to the new location https://duplicity.gitlab.io/duplicity-web/ .

having placed a proper .htaccess file with Redirect directive in the CVS root has no effect. why?

deleting single html files does not delete them in the web space. why?

now we replaced the html files with contents that redirects them to the new location, but apparently they are not updated. why?

thanks.. ede/duplicity team
