Hi christophe,

It looks good, I am recommending approval. I hope the hassle was worth it. Good luck with your project!

HI,
the updated version of the program is now online at the same address. Let me know if now the copyrights are correct.
Thanks.

Hi again,

Then it looks that we have two issues to solve:

  • First, change all copyright notices to point to legal entities (e.g. you and CNRS and University of Valenciennes). This is just done so that the copyrights can be enforceable, if need be.
  • Next (optional), change the root directory to mpisol.

Could you provide an updated tarball so we can continue with the process? Thanks!

Dear Alex,
thanks for your comments. Here are some informations that can help:
1. LPMM and LAMAV are research labs so they are not legal entities.
CNRS is a legal entity. For the second lab, we can add the university related to this lab (something like LAMAV - University of Valenciennes).
2. Since the Simula+ software is split into several parts (some of them independant from the others), such a MOL++ and MateriOL++ already registred on savannah under the top directories mol and materiol, could you please use mpisol as top directory instead of simula+ ?

Hi Christophe,

I am reviewing your submission; I am not yet a full-grown administrator, so please excuse any mistakes I may make in the process.

I have noticed a few issues with the project, which should be resolved before it is approved:

  • Some of the copyrights are assigned to you personally, and at the same time to "Laboratoire de Physique et Mécanique des Matériaux (LPMM - CNRS)" or "Laboratoire de Mathématiques et ses Applications de Valenciennes (LAMAV)". Are they legal entities which can defend a copyright (such as a physical person or a company)? Do you have joint copyright?
  • This is just for convenience, but the top directory is not called "mpisol-$version" as the tarball, but "simula+".

Could you answer these questions so we can proceed? Thanks!

Registration Details

  • Name: Message Passing Interface for Simula+ Object Libraries in C++
  • System Name:  mpisol
  • Type: non-GNU software & documentation
  • License: GNU General Public License v2 or later

Description:

MPISOL++ is part of the Simula+ software (including MOL++ for Mathematical Object Libraries in C++, MateriOL++ for Material Object Libraries in C++, FEMOL++ for Finite Elements Methods Object Libraries in C++, MPISOL++, and a graphical user interface in java). The computation language used is C++.
MPISOL++ aims at developing simplified MPI functions that help using standard mathematical object libraries of Simula+ on distributed memory parallel processors.
There is one library per file (ex. the broadcast library is stored in the file broadcast.h) and each library is checked using a non regression test file (ex. broadcast-test.h). Each library is be documented and the final help can be generated using doxygen.
Our website contains a more detailed description of the global project. It is located at the following address :
http://www.lpmm.fr/collard/simula+.html
The compilation is g++ 4.4.1 compatible. It is developed under GNU/Linux and runs on this system. All the files developed in MPISOL++ are the work of the “Laboratoire de Physique et Mecanique des Materiaux"(Laboratory of Physics and Mechanics of Materials) located in Metz, France.
These libraries depend on MOL++ that can be freely downloaded on savannah or on our website.

Other Software Required:

MOL++ GPL software at https://savannah.nongnu.org/projects/mol
website of the global project:
http://www.lpmm.fr/collard/simula+.html

Other Comments:

install MOL++ first, then install MPISOL++
to execute the code, go to simula+/tests
then execute the script "run simula+ tests"
