You are right.  I forgot about the "Non-functional data" section in [0]. I'm sorry that I told you nonsense.

Now I can accept your project. You will receive a message about the approval with further instructions.

Happy hacking!

Those files aren't used by SGE. In fact, they're not used by anything at all, because they're for an example which isn't ready and therefore isn't included in the archive, so their inclusion was a mistake on my part. I've made a new archive which removes these files, since they aren't used and just take up space. I also fixed some other licensing problems. The new archive is attached.

However, I don't think the art assets which are licensed under the Common Public License is legally an issue. They are not part of the program which uses them (which is actually an example which has a simple permissive license, not SGE), but separate data. Is it simply a rule of this site I didn't notice? (I assumed the GPL-compatibility was only necessary for the software. I didn't think separate data such as images needed to be under a GPL-compatible license too.)

Hi,

thanks for submitting your project to Savannah! I'm evaluating your submission and found the following issues:

Your project includes files licensed under a license which is incompatible to the GNU General Public License[0].  The affected files are those licensed under the Common Public License.  This is an issue because you specified the GNU GPL for your project's license.  Before I can accept your project you need to find replacements for the files or ask the author to license the files under a different, GPL-compatible license.

Please let me know what your plans are.

Best regards.

Registration Details

  • Name: Stellar Game Engine
  • System Name:  stellarengine
  • Type: non-GNU software & documentation
  • License: GNU Lesser General Public License (GNU Lesser General Public License version 3 or later.)

Description:

Stellar Game Engine (or SGE) is an engine for Stellar, a free program which makes development of 2D games faster and easier. SGE can also be used by itself as an easy-to-use game engine.

SGE is written in and for Python. It is designed to easily allow multiple implementations, but this first version has only one implementation which uses Pygame. An alternative implementation that uses Pyglet is planned.

Other Software Required:

Python 2.6 or later <http://python.org> - Python Software Foundation License <http://docs.python.org/2/license.html>

Pygame 1.9.0 or later <http://pygame.org> - GNU Lesser General Public License

Other Comments:

The sub-directory "sge-pygame" includes the Pygame implementation for Python 2.x, while "sge-pygame-py3k" includes the Pygame implementation converted for Python 3.x with 2to3. The Python 3 conversion hasn't yet been tested.
