Wed 13 Sep 2006 09:00:37 PM UTC, comment #10: All that is left is support for ATmega2560 and ATmega2561 in GCC. Patch is available in Patch Tracker for GCC 4.1.x. More testing is needed for overall ATmega256x support. |

Tue 15 Mar 2005 11:13:55 AM UTC, comment #4: According to the datasheet, all these devices (not just 256x - 640/128x too!) store a 3-byte PC on stack. This means they all need GCC changes (new architecture) to be supported. Byte order of these 3-byte addresses on stack is not documented (for 2-byte addresses it was found experimentally to be big endian - only Atmel knows why, AVR is otherwise little endian), and this matters for the indirect_jump insn (even if we limit ourselves to 16-bit pointers, an additional zero byte has to be pushed).

Fri 04 Feb 2005 05:31:56 PM UTC, comment #2: Changed summary to reflect that Atmel is releasing two devices: ATmega2560 and ATmega2561. This info can be found in the Help of AVR Studio, including XML files for simulating the device (which can also be used to write the IO header file). |
