In fact, my preference would be to not have the date/time under the photographs at all, but to have them grouped by date (see how picasa does this).

I don't think it is very useful to display seconds in the date taken under each photograph. People are rarely interested in the exact moment on which a photo was taken, for most people the date only would be enough already, with the only condition that the photos are sorted in the order in which they were taken. Seconds is definitely overkill (could be displayed in the properties if anyone is actually interested in this).
