if you do:

/window splith7
/layout save

and then restart WeeChat, the buffers bar won't be displayed.

How to reproduce (empty WeeChat, with buffers.pl installed (position: right).
Any other bar should work, too):

/window splith 7
/layout save

The buffers bar will not be displayed anymore.

Now try:
/window merge

The buffers bar will be displayed again.

And now:
/layout apply
