Yes, you are right, I've forgot to to set "--postfix". Files were already in the right compression format but only postfix was wrong set. Sorry!

If you want to use eg. 'gzip -9' instead of bzip2, you have to set the following options of storeBackup.pl:

--compress 'gzip -9' --uncompress 'gzip -d' --postfix .gz

Did you forgot to set --postfix?
It's also important to set --uncompress, so storeBackupRecover.pl works correctly.

The ".gz" oder ".bz2" says nothing about the compression used. It's just a part of the file name. Use the 'file' command to check the compression algorithm, eg.

$ file filename.bz2

Does this solve your problem?

Changing parameter "compress", either on command line or config file, to other compression application (i.e. lzop, gzip) has no effect when storebackup is run. Always bzip2 is used.
