[ is allowed in XML but is not allowed in the href-element. RFC 4918, 8.3.  URL Handling, says that URLs must follow the rules defined in RFC 3986. According to RFC 3986, 3.3.  Path,  [ is a gen-delimiter and not allowed in the path segment. It must be percent encoded.

So this is a server bug and must be fixed there.

A version with most httpbody is attached now. The D:href looks fine to me, given that `[` is a legal character in XML, but I'm by no means an expert in WebDAV.

Problems like this are in most cases caused by malformed content in the response to a PROPFIND-request. Some clients will ignore the error, some clients - like the Neon-library used by davfs2 - will ignore the malformed record.

To see wheather this also happöens in this case please add option "debug httpbody" (in addition to "debug most") and create the logfile again. It will be much bigger this time.

What I forgot to mention (it follows from the debug log, but still): The davfs2 version I'm using is 1.5.5-1 as packaged in Debian. The fuse version in uses is 2.9.9-1, and kernel version 5.0.

Files with a "[" are not displayed in a davfs2 mount. I've verified that the WebDAV server (nginx/1.14.2) are exposed over DAV by accessing it directly using gvfs / Thunar.

The tests also contain a file with a hash sign to check for #53819.

On the server:

$ ls
total 0
drwxr-xr-x 1 chrysn chrysn 118 Jul 12 21:31  .
drwxr-xr-x 1 chrysn chrysn 300 Jul 12 21:31  ..
-rw-r--r-- 1 chrysn chrysn   0 Jul 12 21:31 'test-bracket-open-['
-rw-r--r-- 1 chrysn chrysn   0 Jul 12 21:31  test-hash-sign-#
-rw-r--r-- 1 chrysn chrysn   0 Jul 12 21:31  test-no-funny-characters

On my machine:

$ sudo mount.davfs http://shared.amsuess.com/test/ /mnt/tmp -oro
$ ls -la /mnt/tmp
total 1
drwxr-xr-x 3 root root 160 Jul 12 21:31 .
drwx------ 2 root root   0 Jul 12 21:31 lost+found
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root   0 Jul 12 21:31 test-hash-sign-#
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root   0 Jul 12 21:31 test-no-funny-characters

A log with "most" mode is attached.
