A beta1 release of gSmokeFree has been made available via the files section. Please report any bugs to me at linuxnewb AT rogers DOT com, or through the mailing list or my Savannah profile.

Public Release Just Around the Corner

I just have a couple of small features to implement like the startup druid and a better notification tray applet and then I'll make a 0.1 release. But as of now, the program is pretty much fully functional in CVS so if you want to play with it go ahead.

I know that nobody will ever use it, but I thought it would be neat to see how it works and to have one of my own... haha. If you have any questions about the program at all, submit an email to the list. Since the project is so small, the gsmokefree-users list will also double as the developer's list.

I think for the most part the program is functional now. I've added some things like a gconf interface so now the user's settings are persistant. The UI still needs a serious workover and the program itself has not many features.

If you are interested in it, checkout the CVS and report any bugs or suggestions to me. Thanks.

As the subject of this news item suggests, I just uploaded the first tarball and CVS commit to Savannah. Although some parts of the program are in a functional state at the moment, it will not work properly for anyone but me since my data (quit date etc) is hard coded while I implement the preferences saving and applying code using gconf.
