I wrote a small patch that adds another option -P filename. The filename will be opened and assigned to a "FILE* database".
If -P is not given, "database" is assigned from stdout.
"database" is further used whenever anything from the database is printed.
This makes make write its database into a file, if chosen by -P.
Please note that i'd like to write another patch that writes the debug information into a file.
