Hi,

thank you very much for contributing the result of your efforts as free software. I have asked around on the mailing list, and several archive maintainers have provided feedback regarding your macro in that thread:

http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/autoconf-archive-maintainers/2009-12/msg00001.html

The article from Peter Johansson might be of particular interest to you, because he made a number of concrete suggestions how to improve the code.

Personally, I have to admit ignorance of the Resiprocate libraries, so please take my opinions with a grain of salt; I simply don't much about that project.

It seems to me like your macro is useful to a very specific group of people, namely the users of that specific package. My impression is that those users would be better served if your macro were distributed by Resiprocate. I mean, people who use that library in their own code will certainly look into the Resiprocate distribution to find an Autoconf macro that detects the package, but they might not think of looking here, in the Archive, simply because they don't know the Archive exists.

IMHO, your interests and your user's interests would be served best if you'd submit your macro to resiprocate.org.

Anyway, if you prefer, then the Archive would be glad to distribute your macro, too, of course. If you'd like, then I'd encourage you to join in on the discussion in that thread mentioned above. I'm sure that the issues raised in that thread can be addressed quite easily.

Take care,
Peter

The ReSIProcate project consists of a stack and a collection of applications. The ReSIProcate stack is currently used in several commercial products and is considered very stable.

Attached macros allows to check availability of resiprocate library in the system and defines correct paths to headers and libraries.

Also, I'd like to note that currently it does not check the version of the resiprocate library
