Have used the 349 patch for 3 days now without a stoppage.
It seems to do the trick and is now catching an additional
20 to 30 spam messages per day on my personal account.
Good work by dnelson!

I guess I would have to go along with that.  I tried the
372 patch, without success, after modifying it so that it
would compile with gmake on fbsd 4.5-STABLE.  Might have
been due to starting spamd with -a instead of -x, though so
I'll have to go back and check it after I understand the
performance of patch 349.

Yes, I found that I had to apply 349 to the CVS files and
then copy the CVS files over a clean set of the spamass-
milter-0.1.1 source files before I could compile it.
Compiled and installed easily.  A relief not to have to
hack Makefile to refer to sendmail port for libraries.

Seems to be working well.  3 seconds or so to scan a
message.  We'll see if it keeps on truckin' (low load) or
if it stops after a few hours/days, as before the patch.

At this point I think I would recommend the 349 patch.

For what it is worth, I have had good luck with the 349
patch.  You need to make sure you apply it to the CVS
version of the code though, it definately won't work on the
0.1.1 release without some modifications.

There are currently two patches that address the
problem of the SpamAssassin Milter hanging.  349 is
the earlier, submitted by dnelson on 6/12, developed
through several iterations while 372, by vedamaker,
was submitted on 6/22.

Can anyone that has had experience with both or who
has taken the time to compare the code comment on
which patch would be preferred at this point?

Thanks.
