The precommand can be used for whatever you want. The main advantage in using it, is that the STDOUT is logged as a warning and the output of STDERR is logged as an error in the log files of storebackup. So it's easy to monitor.

Just as an example, for mounting I'm using storeBackupMount.pl.
Precommand is used by me for a script which generates a list of all installed packages. Saving this list, /etc, /home and /opt (with installations outside of packet management) I'm saving my Linux workstation.

And - yes - storeBackup.pl waits until precommand is finished.

There is the precommand in the config file and I was wondering if this can be used to mount the NFS volume or what is it good for?
I guess the basic question is will your program or config script wait for the NFS to get mounted (if I put it in precommand) and then continue?

I can have them mounted by other means, just wondering.
